I’m having a whole new love affair with our library/flex room now that our furniture pieces are finally coming in! We are still waiting for more to arrive.

As we’ve made changes over the last few months due to delays and covid really disrupting all our plans - the direction of this room has seen a few iterations…but I’m still in 😍

We’ve been quietly working on other projects in our home- but somehow I haven’t been in the right head space to share. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes….but sharing it on the gram was just not something I was or I am always interested in doing. Does this happen to you?

I went to visit my friend Lynn in the hospital yes

I went to visit my friend Lynn in the hospital yesterday. She will be moving to a hospice to rest comfortably in the coming days.

I wasn’t sure if I should go see her because I was feeling scared. My friends and family told me it wasn’t about me-it was about Lynn and that I should go.
*
*
I don’t think I can articulate what I was scared of, because I don’t really know myself. Was it that maybe Lynn will look different? Will she be upset? Will she be able to talk? What if she can’t recognize me?
*
*
I made the decision to go and I made it happen. When I got to the hospital and entered her room, I saw Lynn just laying there looking into space. When I approached her, her eyes followed my every move, I slowly lowered my mask and asked her is she remembered me. She nodded yes 💕
*
*
I said it’s Seema…she nodded again. She could only move her head…not being able to do much else or even speak. I talked the entire time and she smiled. Told her how much our team disliked her gluten free brownies and she smiled big, and attempted to laugh.
*
*
Before the end of my visit, I told Lynn how much I valued her as a friend and colleague. I told her I loved her. I could see her expression change in her eyes…she was feeling sad 😢. I asked her if she could hear me and she nodded yes. She knows and understands she is sick. It was heartbreaking for me, but I needed her to know how much impact she had on so many people.

I could see she was listening to my every word as her eyes we glued to mine. When I asked her if she wanted me to come see her again, see nodded yes….she attempted to say my name…she could only say “Seeee” that was good enough for me 💕

Life is full of sudden goodbyes.

Right before noon today- I received the sad and un

Right before noon today- I received the sad and unfortunate news that a colleague/ friend was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare and incurable brain condition.
*
*
She has entered end-of-life palliative care treatment. She will be resting comfortably, surrounded by her husband, and two young kids and her parents…until her last days.
*
*
She and I have been in touch for years, and would often FaceTime due to the pandemic.
*
*
We last spoke in July of this year, with plans to meet up in the fall. Fall came and went, and we never got in touch….this explains why…I regret not being more intentional about being in touch and sending her that text to make plans for our next coffee chat.
*
*
Every December we would connect and share pics of latest projects, tables-capes and family holiday shenanigans…it won’t happen this year 💔
*
*
Life is too short…call your friends 💗
